Facts about Age Related Hearing Loss.
Age related hearing loss does not generally occur in
people aged less than 65 years old although in rare cases it can manifest
itself in people in their forties. It is important to know that age related
hearing loss cannot be cured, but it can be managed.
Over nine million people in the UK experience some form of hearing loss, and of these around six million people are aged over sixty-five years old. Age related hearing loss is natural deterioration of the hearing system and usually affects both ears to a similar degree.
Generally people with age related hearing loss struggle to hear higher pitched sounds, particularly 's' and 'th' sounds people will often struggle more to hear when there are other background sounds, and they will often complain of tiredness after a conversation.
